This case is perfect for my "cut-down" kit. I've a Sony Alpha 550, a Tamron 18-250, a SONY HVL-F20AM Flash, spare battery and SD cards, and they all fit comfortably in the case. I've a LowePro SLINGSHOT 202 AW for when I want to carry the rest of my lenses and my bigger flash, but for when I'm traveling light with my walkabout kit, this SOny case is absolutely perfect. I used to have a no-brand cheapo case, but the 550 wouldn't fit in it with the 18-250 mounted - I took a chance that this case would fit it, and it paid off. I have a Nikon D90 and a selection of Nikkor lenses with which I am very happy. My wife wanted to have her own DSLR, having only had compacts before, so we chose this model as the hype says, "The Nikon D3100 is an entry level digital SLR camera aimed at photographers making their first venture into SLR ownership." and I wanted to be able to share my lenses with her.

The "beginners" aspect has been very well thought out. The camera is beautifully light, especially when compared to the D90, the instructions for a beginner are easy to follow, although I am sure you will quickly tire of the Guide mode, and the initial quality of the pictures is everything you would expect from Nikon - you won't be disappointed.

My only quibble, why are only AF-S lenses fully compatible? How much would it have added to the cost to make it compatible with all the type G lenses?

It means we cannot share my wonderful Nikkor 10.5mm F2.8 G fisheye. It does work but you lose the autofocus which is a shame, even with a wide angle lens. My AF 70-300/4.0-5.6G is virtually unusable on the D3100 as you do need the autofocus here. A shame!

A UV filter is used to reduce UV rays from entering the lens and striking the film.

This lens, with it's adapter rings, enables my Sony 310E to film people and objects in todays modern homes with their small rooms. Now, instead of just head to waist, its possible to film full length, although the camera has to be at the opposite side of the said room. For outdoor groups, such as weddings etc, more of the group can be included at one time thus excluding most of the manic camera waving normally associated with amateur videos. It is a substantial size and weight but balances perfectly the large battery (a sony 100) that I always use. I put this combination on a sturdy tripod which makes for a solid combination and minimum shake. The price of the 0.7x lens was a surprise as I expected it to be at least double. Delivery time was excellent, being only a couple of days. Although it defeats the object of having a wide conversion lens, it is still possible to use the zoom button on the camera, so removal of the lens to film normally is not necessary.
